Words Of The Wisdomless: I Am -
"I am only what I think I am, and at that, I think I am nothing less normal in this make-believe world. That which is your reality is not mine and for that, I take joy. For I am unique!"

"Never let the negative thought process disassemble the positive foundation of recovery". Oh my god, that is such a stupid quote, what, did you do just make it up? Yes, yes I did! So keep your negativity away from me and leave me alone!"

Words Of The Wisdomless: Thank You
"Mental illness has a way to make even the most caring consumer forget the love and sacrifices of caregivers. The goodness, loving kindness and compassion must be honored by us whom otherwise would destroy our-selves without their support. In sharing this sentiment, I say on behalf of us all... Thank You, Now where are my Meds!"

Words Of The Wisdomless: Rock On
Words Of The Wisdomless: Rock On -
"In the words of 1982 grunge rock band The Motels, only the lonely complain... Gosh, OH golly me, I have nothing to complain about. But the voices in my head must really be lonely and have a long list of complaints, since they haven't left yet."

Words Of The Wisdomless: Could Have Been -
"You can't go around thinking to much about 'what could have been', Rather think what 'will be'. Like, if I don't get my work done, I 'will be' out of a job. And If I can't pay my rent I 'will be' homeless."

Words Of The Wisdomless- Down the Drain -
"With a psychological diagnosis, it can seem like the proverbial plug has been pulled out of our lives. What we once had is going down the drain. What people sometimes forget is that hope can plug up that drain."

Word Of the Wisdomless: Profound-
"If you are going to survive life diagnosed with a Mental Disorder, you first need to survive the diagnosis then work on Mentally avoiding disorder. When you're done venturing on the hard, arduous task of overcoming the ability to comprehend the difference between psychosis, the surreal and reality, let me know. I'll be here taking my meds."

Words Of The Wisdomless: To DO -
"I have so many things I want to do. So, many things I need to do and only few things I can do. So, I wait till they all become something I have to do. Then they pile up till it's too late to do them. This way I can go do the things I want to do and go back to bed"

Words Of The Wisdomless: More or Less -
| Words Of The Wisdomless: More or Less - Every one is expected to do more or less what others have already chosen to do. It's the expectational soul that chooses to go their own way, more or less. It's really special people that can do all this with not knowing it more or less. Are you special? I know I am, more or less... - Chato B. Stewart |

Talking to my therapist about the horror of my childhood her comment surprised me. She said, "I apologize to you that no one was there to protect you."
It made me think, it was the first time any one said sorry to me for it. I've heard it said other ways, but she took ownership of my pain and I felt some closure.
Let's try it. "I apologize to you that no one was there to protect you."

Too Few Young Adults Treated for Alcohol, Drug Problems: Study
| Finding direction for this blog. Blogging is the one thing any one can do but it is not for the faint of heart. Sure you can write what ever you want to, but once you have made your point then what? Well, that is when you need to be creative. Well, I have a number of blogs and for the most part I've just used them to promote the same thing. So now I'm going to give this blog a bit more meat to it. Here are some of the latest health and medical news developments, compiled by editors of HealthDay: Too Few Young Adults Treated for Alcohol, Drug Problems: Study More than one in five young adults in the United States (7 million) need treatment for alcohol or illicit drug use, but only 7 percent of them receive treatment at a specialty facility, says a federal government study released Monday. Those levels have remained relatively stable since 2002, said the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) study of 2007 data from a national survey of 22,187 adults ages 18 to 25. "Substance use disorders are preventable and treatable yet we continue as a nation to allow the lives of 1 in 5 young people and their families be torn apart by substance abuse," SAMHSA Acting Adminstrator Eric Broderick said in a news release. "As a nation we must redouble our efforts to prevent substance abuse in the first place and ensure treatment is available to those in need." The study also found that 96 percent of young adults who needed, but didn't receive, treatment for substance-use problems didn't believe they needed help. Among the other findings from the 2007 data:

Cartoon-a-thon Getting ready Draw
Hi all,
In getting ready for May's Mental Health month I had to add up some numbers for my blog. I was over joyed to get our annual numbers totaled up. In the last twelves months the Mental Health Humor blog has almost 100,000 unique visits and over 366,000 page views. That does not unclued the the website or all the published cartoons. So I want to thank every one for your support.
Now I'm getting ready for our second annual Cartoon-A-Thon to draw one cartoon for each day of Mental Health Awareness month.
This year you will be able to see the cartoons here on the blog, but the site I'm volunteering for will post them first. That URL is mentalhealthcartoons.com
They will help keep track of any donations too.
I've been hired to do a few presentations for some local non-profit mental health groups. More presentations will come if this cartoon-a-thon works out.
"All proceeds from our Cartoon-A-Thon go to support the development and implementation of the Mental Health Humor project and funding free public presentations. "
I need a new laptop (new-ish) and projector and other supplies. Since there have been so many cut backs down here finding funding is harder then winning the lottery.
Well, I'm getting my art supplies ready and thinking up some ideas for cartoons so make sure you keep checking in for the new toons.
I'll keep every one updated... I am looking for volunteers....
Any bloggers that want to help by posting the daily cartoons let me know.
If you have some free time and want to ask people or providers in your area to make pledges here is a pledge sheet *(PDF file) .
e-mail if you want to help...
